The Roanoke Valley Broadband Authority consists of the Cities of Roanoke and Salem, and the Counties of Botetourt and Roanoke.  The primary goal of the Authority is to improve affordable broadband services in the Roanoke Valley by encouraging collaboration, competition, while enhancing economic development opportunities.

The Broadband Authority is in the final stages of creating a 50 mile network in the Valley that will serve business parks, large institutions, government facilities and businesses.  The network is as an open-access network by carrier-grade operators.
