The Roanoke Valley Broadband Authority consists of the Cities of Roanoke and Salem, and the Counties of Botetourt and Roanoke. The primary goal of the Authority is to improve affordable broadband services in the Roanoke Valley by encouraging collaboration, competition, while enhancing economic development opportunities.
The Broadband Authority is in the final stages of creating a 50 mile network in the Valley that will serve business parks, large institutions, government facilities and businesses. On September 7, 2016, the City of Roanoke and the Roanoke Valley Broadband Authority received the prestigious Governor’s Technology Award for Cross-Boundary Collaboration at a ceremony during the annual COVITS conference in Richmond, Virginia. The RVBA has also hired Vice President of Network Engineering and Operations, Dave Armentrout to ensure world-class system performance and customer service.….read full release….
